Aruna
Subramaniam had her primry training in Bharata Natyam under the guidance
of Guru P Palaniappan of Coimbatore.
However it was only during her late twenties that she underwent vigorous training
and entered the dance arena as a performing artist en the year 1878.
A proud disciple of Tirukokalyanasundaram Pillai, Aruna has
emerged as one of the finest danseuse of the country.
Aruna entered the school of Kuchipudi and learnt it from
Guru Jayarama Rao based in Delhi.
Later she joined the Kuchipudi Arts Academy Madras and enriched
her learning under the guidance of the great maestro Dr Vempati Chinna
Satyam.
Apart from her solo dance programmes Aruna’s dance drama like Andal,
valli-Thirum etc….
Her performances were telecast under the National network programmes of Door
Darshan.
She has also founded a dance coaching centre in the capital at Delhi, for
which the accommodation has been provided by the government of India.
Now, she is based in Thanjavur where she gives classes to many students and
gives them many occasions to perfom.
