Since 1994, Maya has happily developed her own educational method in order to bring Bharata Natya

m within children’s reach, in the European context and in accordance with tradition.
The transmission of her knowledge is reaching its full scope with them.
Apart from the lessons she gives to the very young when she teaches at Vienne-en –Arthies (95) Maya has very often worked with children within the context of workshops, shows and cultural school activities, children’s hospitals, particularly children in care (end of the year party of St Vincent de Paul’s Hospital in Paris).

THURSDAY WORKSHOPFrom January to May 2005 Maya cooperated with Hubert Gonzales a teacher in the Primary School Section in Frémainville.
Every two weeks on a Thursday she was asked to offer the children an educational workshop for Indian Dance.
Maya’s work with the children from the three Nursery Sections has been carried on by their teacher all the year round.
India has already created a colourful background for the children who have learnt about its geography, its food, its traditional costumes, its music and its wildlife.
By the end of the year, the children were given a dance assessed on the mastering of the technical basic knowledge of Bharata Natyam: rythmics, body movements, coordination, spacemanagement.
On that occasion, the children presented Maya with a tale they had written and illustrated.
So Maya committed herself to choreograph the tale, making a dance scene of each page. And thus “Dancing in the heart” was born. The show was on at Mantes-la-jolie (78) on sept.30th 2005 and Aubergenville (78) on Oct. 23rd 2005. It will be on at Clermont-Ferrand at “Le petit Théâtre de Vallières” in February during three days.
